RAW Power Peace Training | September 8th
RAW POWER PEACE TRAINING
As a follow-up to our time with RAWTools, Inc in June 2018, you are invited to a one-day peacemaking workshop on Saturday, Sept. 8th, 9am-4pm. This workshop is offered at no cost to the public.
Explore examples of successful nonviolent transformation (of practitioner and opponent) and learn about personal, interpersonal and social scenarios calling for creative prevention of and response to potential and already violent situations. Each session is linked to an example of Jesus’ script-changing scenarios explored via Walter Wink’s Jesus and Nonviolence: a Third Way.
Projected goals, objectives
-To equip participants with a practice-able understanding of the power and spirit of nonviolence
-To engender confidence in taking initiative in potentially violent situations
-To honor creativity and resources of participants in discovering their abilities to disarm hearts and forge peace
-To deepen understanding of nonviolence principles, practitioners and movements
-To offer self-assessments that instruct participants in basic principles of nonviolence
-To practice role-plays that involve all players in taking roles of protagonist, opponent, and spect-actor (active observer who may join the action to transform the situation or may reflect analysis and questions to clarify and improve practice)
Specific needs to address
-The desire for confidence and a practical toolkit for potentially volatile and volatile situations
-The need for nonviolent education and resources
-The dismay and futility many feel about the pervasive violence in US culture
-The fears many have of stranger violence and mass shootings
