One of our goals as a faith community is to help resource you for your own faith development and growth. To help do this, we’ll periodically release a list of resources that will help you process ideas and concepts in recent sermon series. Listed below are resources that have been helpful to Pastor Andy during his study for the Day of the LORD series. Enjoy!

1. Day of the LORD video: The Bible Project is a nonprofit animation studio that produces short films about the Bible. Their video on the Day of the LORD provides a great overview of the Day of the LORD theme and actually inspired the series!

2. Day of the LORD study guide by The Bible Project

3. I’m Still Here by Austin Channing Brown: This book inspired the story about the Q&A session at a book tour that Andy told in weeks one and two of the series. When he told the story he hadn’t read the book, now he has and it is an eye-opening perspective on the world. A must read for anyone interested in pursuing racial justice and equality.

4. Myth of a Christian Nation by Gregory Boyd: This provocatively titled book will help free your faith from nationalism and give you a deeper understanding and appreciation for the kingdom of God. Andy quoted a short passage from this book in week three of the series.

5. Resisting Empire Video: This short video articulates many of the ideas presented in week three of the series about being careful not to conflate Christian faith and American patriotism.
